After a long break this harvest season, more fruit has rolled in to Bennett Lane Winery.  We had a surprise early rainstorm hit before our fruit was ready.  We decided to wait it out since the flavors weren't there yet in our grapes, and the wait has paid off.  Our Syrah was harvested yesterday from Trio C Vineyard in Yountville.  This has turned out to be a spectacular spot for Syrah, and is our only source for this intrgeal part of our Maximus blend.  Who knows, if the flavors are right and the wine is amazing we may even have another varietal Syrah to bottle.

Bennett Lane has become well known for Syrah this year.  We usually use this exclusively as a blending varietal, but a few of our vintages have been so outstanding that we have made a small 200 case lot exclusively for our wine club members.  Our 2006 Syrah is a perfect example, just released this year and less than 200 cases produced.  For such a small bottling it has earned quite a repuation, being listed by Wine Spectator as one of the Top Syrahs of the vintage for California and earning an incredible 92 Points.  Join us today at t he winery to try the 2006 release and maybe even catch a peek at the 2009 fermenting away in the cellar.  Stay tuned here, as we have grapes rolling into the vineyard all week.......
